create upi id: How to create an additional UPI ID in Google Pay

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has developed the Unified Payment Interface (UPI), a real-time immediate payment system that enables peer-to-peer and person-to-merchant interbank transactions. The National Payments Coordinating Initiative (NPCI) is an organization that oversees all digital payments.

UPI is now the preferred payment gateway as the system can integrate multiple bank accounts into a single mobile application. It also provides instant money transfers and merchant payments under one roof.

Note that your bank must support UPI payments before you can use Google Pay to make payments. On the UPI app, you need to create a virtual payment address (VPA). This varies between different UPI service providers. For example, your PhonePe VPA will be yourmobilenumber @ ybl. On the other hand, for Google Pay, your VPA will be yourname @ okbankname.

Google Pay is a mobile application that offers a UPI service to enable real-time digital payments. To create a new UPI ID in Google Pay, follow the steps below.

Follow the steps below to change it:

Step 1: Open and sign in to Google Pay.

Step 2: Tap on your photo in the top right corner.

Step 3: Select a payment method.

Step 4: Select the bank account whose UPI ID you want to see.

Step 5: Tap on the UPI ID linked to the bank account you will be using.

Step 6: Tap the “+” sign next to the UPI ID you want to use.

Important: When you make payment, you will see your UPI ID before you click the “proceed to payment” button.

Why UPI ID is needed

Each UPI user must create a VPA or commonly known as UPI ID, which is linked to their bank account. This UPI ID or your number must be shared with the sender to receive payment directly to your bank account. You can link multiple bank accounts in one app. However, each bank account will have a different UPI ID and only one of them will be the primary bank account you will receive money in. However, at the time of payment, you can choose any bank account to make the payment.

Creating an additional UPI ID in Google Pay is straightforward and can be done in a matter of minutes. However, you need to make sure to check if the bank supports UPI function. The customer can also add multiple UPI identifiers if needed. Your bank account can have up to four UPI IDs. These can also be deleted at any time. For the same bank account, you can have different UPI IDs. This helps reduce payment delays or failures, according to the Google Pay website.
