At Techlicious, we are huge fans of CamelCamelCamel. When we tested it against other price trackers, we awarded it our Top Pick award for the best Amazon price history tracker for its ease of use and great price data. Here’s how to get started with CamelCamelCamel so you can start saving as well.

How to use CamelCamelCamel

You can use CamelCamelCamel in two ways: you can use the CamelCamelCamel website or install the Camelizer browser extension.

How to use the CamelCamelCamel site

1. Navigate to the Amazon page for the product you want to search.

2. Copy the URL into the web address bar of your browser.

3. Go to camelcamelcamel.com

4. At the top of the page, inside the box with the text “Find Amazon Products”, paste the URL of the Amazon product, and then press Enter.

At the top of the product page on CamelCamelCamel, you will see a photo of the product, the product name, and the price. Below you will find the option to set up Amazon price monitoring. Enter your email address and the price you want to pay. If and when the price falls below this amount, you will receive an email informing you of the price reduction.

Further down the page, you will see a graph with the price history for Amazon, third party sellers, and third party sellers offering the product used.

Below the Price Watch area is a graph showing the Amazon price, the third-party seller's price, and the third-party seller's price for the product used. Below the chart are the highest and lowest prices for Amazon, the third-party seller, and the used third-party seller.

How to use the CamelCamelCamel browser extension

There is also a CamelCamelCamel browser extension (for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox) called Camelizer which brings the power of CamelCamelCamel directly to the Amazon shopping experience. Once you’ve installed the extension, pricing information is just a click away on any Amazon product page.

1. Navigate to the Amazon page for the product you want to search.

2. Click the Camelizer button in your browser toolbar to view the price history for the item you are viewing.

A box will appear with a graphic containing pricing information for Amazon, third party sellers, and third party sellers offering the product being used.

If you want to know when the price drops, you can enter your email. To set a price threshold, enter the price in the box to the right of the current price for Amazon, Third Party New, or Third Party Used.

To the right in the last column are boxes to indicate the price of the Price Watch function. Underneath is a box to enter your email and a button labeled Send Price Watch List.

Is CamelCamelCamel correct?

Generally, the information in CamelCamelCamel is correct. The service monitors 6 million products daily in nine geographic locations and, in some cases, multiple times per hour. However, with the prices of Amazon products fluctuating as often as every 15 minutes, the lowest or highest price may not be captured on any given day. So it’s often better to look at price patterns over time, rather than just a single highest or lowest point. For example, is a product offered for sale frequently on certain public holidays? And if so, what was the past sale price?

CamelCamelCamel gives priority to updating the price information of the products monitored by the price monitoring function. So if you are interested in tracking a specific product, it is worth creating a tracker.

The other factor that can affect pricing accuracy is whether the price shown on the page is the Amazon price or a third-party seller price. CamelCamelCamel generally assumes that the price shown is the Amazon price, although it does take other information into account to make an educated guess.

I have been using CamelCamelCamel for over five years and in my experience the service has provided information that is accurate enough to make better purchasing decisions.
