Samsung smartphones will no longer display ads on its health and payment apps

Earlier this year, Samsung promised to stop showing ads in default apps, including Samsung Weather, Samsung Pay, and Samsung Themes. Samsung officials announced on the community forum yesterday that Samsung Health App has removed the ads today. Officials said that From October 1, the banner ads at the top of the Samsung Health app will no longer be there. Additionally, the post from another community member revealed that Samsung has also removed ads from Samsung Pay.

The South Korean manufacturer previously said in a statement: “We have decided to stop advertising on proprietary apps, including our Weather, Pay and Themes apps. The update will be later this year … Our priority is to provide consumers with innovative mobile experiences based on their needs and wants.

Samsung added, “We value user feedback and continue to work hard to provide them with the best of our Galaxy products and services…”

Samsung reveals neuromorphic chip technology that mimics the brain

Recently, Samsung published an article titled “Neuromorphic Electronics Based on Brain Cut-and-Paste”. He talks about a new way to copy the brain’s neural connection map and paste it onto a high-density three-dimensional array of semiconductor memories. The document is a partnership publication between engineers at Samsung and Harvard University. It uses a revolutionary nanoelectrode array developed by Dr Donhee Ham and Dr Hongkun Park. The article talks about the creation of a memory chip that approximates the unique computer characteristics of the brain. In other words, it is a concept that will be revolutionary if it succeeds.

The main objective of this article is to reverse engineer the brain using a neuromorphic method. He talks about methods of extracting the map of the neural wiring of a human brain, thus “copying” it. Then, the system will effectively “paste” it onto an array of non-volatile memories. These special and designed non-volatile memories will learn and express the neural connection map. They will only need signals recorded intracellularly.

Unfortunately, Samsung is still in the early stages of developing this technology. So, at least for now, there are no research applications. We assume that it is still several years before it becomes commercially available. However, the company will continue to explore these concepts for application in current solutions. For example, the company will study neuromorphic engineering and use some of its resources to develop its next-generation AI semiconductors.

The truth is, it’s hard to predict how the industry will be ten, twenty or thirty years from now. However, we will be miles away from what we consider “modern”. So, maybe in a few years, neuromorphic chips will be the norm.
