Sendcloud closes 150 million to increase its global presence
Sendcloud, Europe’s leading e-commerce shipping platform, raised € 150 million in a Series C funding round. The investment was led by Softbank, with L Catterton and HPE Growth. The Netherlands-based company will use the money to accelerate its growth and continue its continued mission of international expansion.
International breakthrough
The shipping platform is now active in 8 European countries. After expanding to Germany, France and more recently the UK, the company is aiming for a breakthrough in the international parcel market.
Their head office in Eindhoven currently has 400 employees. In order to continue to grow its global presence, Sendcloud wants to use the capital to hire an additional 250 people, the company said in a statement. maintenance.
Post-pandemic increase in parcel delivery
Sendcloud has more than 20,000 retailers under its wings across Europe. Online stores can connect to their all-in-one shipping platform and employ different European carriers to ship orders worldwide. Stores can also opt for delivery options such as parcel lockers, pickup points and choose a specific day and time for delivery.
The newly raised capital follows an increase in e-commerce and, consequently, parcel delivery in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2020, Sendcloud shipped more than double the number of packages compared to the previous year. Overall, the parcel market grew 13% in the same year. The post-pandemic effect has not faded as the delivery market continues to grow.
Continuous growth
Sendcloud fills an important gap in the market by offering e-merchants, large and small, an alternative to hashing with different operators. Additionally, it responds to growing consumer wishes for more flexible delivery options. After its recent expansion into the UK and the post-pandemic boom, Sendcloud appears to be growing with continued momentum.
